Brian Alan (Zach)

April 20, 1946 - December 23, 2018

Brian Alan Zacharuk (Zach) passed away peacefully, with his loving family by his side on Sunday, December 23, 2018 at the age of 72 years. Brian was born in Drumheller, Alberta on April 20, 1946 to Steve & Francis Zacharuk. Brian graduated High School in 1965, then attended carpentry training in Calgary, worked for Poole Construction and Greene Construction, and was also a devoted volunteer at the Drumheller fire department. Brian built his first home in lower Midland in 1967 where he raised his family. In 1972 he began working at the Drumheller Penitentiary. In 1979 Brian started up his own company called Brian Zacharuk Construction Ltd. and in 1983 opened a family business, Mom’s Laundry. On February 28, 1993 Brian bought the acreage for his family where he and Linda made their final home. Pig roasts, Black Label beer, Merle Haggard, activities on the river and fireworks are a few of the things Brian loved, and he always spent his days doing what he loved the most. Anyone who knew him will greatly miss the stories and his gift of knowledge. Even with his Jekyll and Hyde personality Brian was generous, hard working and loved by many. Brian is survived by his wife Linda of 53 years, his dog Clyde, his two daughters, Mary James (Randy) and Marnie Zacharuk (Bob Ball). His grandsons Dustin Zacharuk (Jennifer) and Ryan Zacharuk. His sister Blanche Laslo, brother Blaine Zacharuk (Lynne), and nephew Stephen Wilton (Vicki). We would like to send out a very special thank you to Dr. Hall, Dr. Mateer, Lisa McKenzie, Colleen MacDonald, Ryan Tracey, all the Nursing staff, housekeeping and kitchen staff, and all of you who took the time to visit and care for Brian, Courtney-Winter’s Funeral Home Lisa, Sean, and Scott. You are all loved and appreciated very much. Those who wish, memorial donations may be made to the Drumheller Humane Society. A Celebration of Brian’s Life will be held on the July 1st, 2019 long weekend at his acreage as per his wishes.
