In Loving Memory
Maria Carita Alén-Ludwar, 26, passed away on September 18, 2017 after a torturous battle with cancer. Maria is dearly loved and survived by her husband, Adam; her parents, Ann and Duane; her sister, Jessica (Joe); her brother, Oscar; her nieces, Annika and Emma; her paternal grandmother, Lorraine; and her aunts, uncles and cousins. Maria was born in Drumheller, Alberta and spent a happy childhood with her parents and siblings on the family farm in Drumheller and with family in Helsinki, Finland. She attended the University of Lethbridge and graduated to become a passionate and skilled teacher. In 2012, she met the love of her life and spent five fulfilling years building a home and exploring the world with him. Maria and Adam married on July 15, 2017. She will always be remembered as a loving wife, daughter, sister, and aunt whose greatest pleasures were spending time with family and friends, cooking and baking, and being active. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Fibrolamellar Cancer Foundation at www.fibrofoundation.org. A private Celebration of Life will be held in Maria’s memory by family and friends.
