ShirleyPeters

PETERS, Shirley Marie

March 14, 1937 - August 19, 2016

It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden and peaceful passing of our beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Shirley was born in Tuberose, SK to Albert and Mary Frey. She was the eldest of four children. She took her high school education in Maple Creek and later became a LPN. She worked at Maple Creek Hospital until she moved to Calgary in 1965 and later moved to Drumheller in 1973 where she resided until her passing. Shirley, along with her husband Frank, owned and managed 13 hotels during that time before retiring in 2015. She was no stranger to hard work but loved being busy. Her house was always well-kept and she was always meticulous in her appearance. She loved spending time with her family, loved to cook, dance, entertain and enjoyed going for a leisurely drive in the evenings. Shirley was predeceased by her parents Albert and Mary Frey, daughter Debbie and son Brian. She leaves to mourn her loving husband of 52 years, Frank, son Doug and his daughters Cersten and Brayden, son Bruce (Shirley), their daughters Jessica (Steve), Amber (Tyler), grandson Jamie (Ashley), great-grandchildren Lincoln and Koa Sternkey, Beau Kirby and Max Sharp. Shirley will also be dearly missed by her brothers Bruce (June), Barry and sister Marg (Bob). In honour of Shirley’s wishes, a private Graveside Service will be held at Mountain View Memorial Gardens. If friends and/or family so desire, donations in Shirley’s memory may be made to the Drumheller Community Cancer Centre (351 - 9 St NW, Drumheller, AB T0J 0Y1) or charity of their choice. Arrangements entrusted to Mountain View Funeral Home, Calgary. To express condolences, please visit: www.mountainviewmemorial.ca.
