It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of David Wayne Powell, much loved husband of Lori, and much loved dad of Tyson and Kassidy at Pine Lake, Alberta on July 22, 2016. Dave was born on September 21, 1968 in Morden, Manitoba to Wayne and Iris Powell.  Dave took his schooling in the Drumheller Valley, graduating from D.C.H.S. in 1986.  Dave excelled in the Valley, he dabbled in the insurance industry briefly, he then took on the assistant manager position of the Dinosaur Valley Golf and Country Club at a young age.  In 1990, Dave found his niche in life, he became the owner manager of the Sports Room, he and his wife and family worked diligently, making it a success.  He always had the time to help and visit with people in this capacity.  As Dave and Lori’s family grew, he became involved in many volunteer jobs, President and Founder of Badlands Lacrosse, Drumheller Valley Ski club, Founder of Dinofest, VP of Drumheller Chamber of Commerce, Drumheller Slow Pitch Association, he also could be found coaching various activities that his children were in, Drumheller Minor Hockey coach for 6 years, Badlands Lacrosse for 7 years, Junior B Lacrosse for 3 years, coached and instructed downhill skiing for 7 years and varsity basketball.  Dave was a community minded man, his quick wit and infectious laugh will be missed. Dave was predeceased by his parents, Wayne & Iris Powell, his brother-in-law Greg Reitze, and two uncles, Ken Powell and Garth Powell. Dave leaves behind, his wife Lori, his son Tyson, his daughter Kassidy, his sister Kim Reitze, nephew Jeremy Reitze, niece Kendahl Reitze, Lori’s family, father and mother in-law Tim & Marg Ewing, brother-in-law Jason (Alisha) Ewing, nephews Kobe Ewing, Grayden Ewing, niece Morgan Ewing, billet sons, Justin Ruggiero and Josh Kluck, and a lifetime of friends. A Service of Remembrance will be held Friday, July 29, 2016 from the Rosedale Community Hall at 2:00 P.M., if friends so desire memorial donations may be made in Memory of Dave to A.L.S. or the Canadian Diabetes Association.  Courtney-Winter’s Funeral Homes are in care of the arrangements
