On Thursday, October 29, 2015 at 12:18 a.m., Adolf Holzli of Calgary passed away peacefully with his family by his side at the Peter Lougheed Centre, at the age of 75 years. Adolf was born in Scheindorf, Roumania on July 4, 1940. During the aftermath of the Second World War, his family was forced to uproot from their homestead fleeing the Russian invasion. They travelled to Austria, settling in Germany in approximately 1946. There, in Germany, they remained until 1953, when they immigrated to Canada, settling in Diamond City, Alberta. Adolf went on to live in Drumheller, Alberta working for E.O. Parry Auto and Farm Machinery. In Drumheller, he met and married Ann Johnson of Morrin, Alberta in 1961 and had two sons, Kelly in 1962 and Corey in 1963. In 1965-66, the family moved to Three Hills, Alberta and Adolf worked for Mainline Farm Sales, becoming a partner in 1975. Also in 1975, their daughter Marnie was born. While in Three Hills, Adolf was involved with the Kinsmen, Volunteer Fire Department and the Elks. He also coached baseball and hockey. In 1980, the family moved to Calgary where Adolf worked at Oliver Industrial Supply and later Motion Industries where he retired in 2005 as Manager. Adolf is survived by his wife Ann; sons, Kelly (Lorelei) and Corey (Deborah); daughter Marnie (Jason); grandchildren, Kelsey, Jody McIver (Brett), Justin McIver, and Sophie; great-granddaughters, Hannah, Chloe, Sloan, and Layne; sisters, Rose Mohr and Helen (Norm) Feil; brother Andy (Lydia) Holzli; as well as many nieces and nephews. Adolf was predeceased by his mother Maria; father Andreas; and step-mother Magdelena; step-brothers, Philipp Mohr and Andy Moor. At Adolf’s own request, he will be cremated and a family celebration of his life will be held at a later date. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
