Fred Delcroix passed away peacefully at the Drumheller Hospital on October 19, 2015 after a battle with cancer at the age of 71. He was born in Drumheller on July 8, 1944 to Ferdinand and Betty Delcroix. He joined the Navy at the young age of 18 and spent 3 years serving his country. He then moved to Calgary working as a crane operator for several years. Fred then returned to his roots, working for the Town of Drumheller from 1986 to 2013. Fred was a very quiet, giving and caring man who took great pride in taking care of his mother. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening and walking in the hills with his dogs. He is survived by his mother, Betty Delcroix of Drumheller; sister, Sherry (Ralph) Smeal of Three Hills; niece, Melanie (Jason) Hagel of Swalwell; Nephew, Garnet (Vicki) Smeal of Langley, BC.; great nephews and niece Ethan, Garett , Devon and Lisa. Special thanks to Fred’s close friend Steve who spent many hours visiting him and checking on Betty during this difficult time. As well as his fishing buddy Gary.
