Caswell, John Sylvanus
July 3, 1925 - February 16, 2015
John Caswell was born July 3, 1925 in Drumheller, Alberta and passed away peacefully February 16, 2015 at Drumheller Long Term Care Facility. He was the only son of Sylvanus Caswell and Sarah Caswell (nee Bynersly). He was predeceased by his wife Myrtle Jane (Susie) (nee Murphy); his sister Elizabeth (Betty) Hickey-Verbonac. He will never be forgotten by his children, grandchildren and great-grandchild - Edward (Jacqueline, and sons Joshua and Brandon), Margaret (David, and daughter Sarah); Michael (Celia and children Angela, (Christopher) Gregory, Joy-Anne (Joshua and their son Ethan) and is survived by many nieces and nephews. John dedicated his entire life to the Caswell family homestead north of Drumheller. He will be remembered for his love of animals especially horses, cowboy stories and friendly demeanor to all. His happiest times were spent on trail rides, volunteering for 4-H and teaching others how to ride and care for horses. Being named Drumheller Exhibition and Stampede Cowboy of the Year in 1987 was an honour he appreciated. Many thanks to the staff at the Drumheller Hospital and Long Term Care Facility for the care provided to our Dad over the many years he was there. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Courtney-Winter’s Funeral Home. Internment February 28 at 3:00 PM at the Drumheller Cemetery graveside. Donations to the Heart & Stroke Foundation in remembrance of John would be appreciated. A Memorial celebration for family and friends of John will occur at a later date.
