On Saturday, December 3, the Drumheller Dragons hosted the annual Telus Teddy Bear Toss at its home game versus the Canmore Eagles. The event is in benefit of the local Salvation Army and was helped along by the Drumheller Skating Club, which collected hundreds of stuffed toys that rained down from the stands. Jaxon, 6, Parker, 4, and Thea, 3, Franke were excited anticipating the Dragons’ first goal, which came early in the second period.

Below, the stuffed animals are awaiting delivery to their new families at Christmas.

Drumheller RCMP remind residents to "Lock It or Lose It"

Drumheller RCMP are reminding vehicle owners and holiday shoppers to “lock it or lose it” as temperatures drop and we enter the holiday season.
Property crimes such as theft from vehicles and vehicle thefts are on the rise in Drumheller and the surrounding areas.
“Theft and theft of vehicles is often a crime of opportunity,” says new Drumheller RCMP Staff Sergeant Rob Harms. “Cold weather and the holiday season often create increased opportunity for thieves with property and packages being left visible in vehicles, and vehicles left unattended while running.”
Drumheller RCMP recommend taking steps which may reduce the chances of falling victim to such crimes such as making sure your vehicle is locked at all times when not in use; not to leave your vehicle unattended while running; removing all valuables such as shopping bags and property from the vehicle when unattended, or leaving items out of view such as in the trunk if you are not able to remove them; remove all vehicle keys and garage door openers when parked; park in areas open to view, not obstructed, and well lit at night.
Motorists are also urged not to keep documents with personal or banking information, such as credit card receipts, in an unattended vehicle to prevent opportunities for identity theft.

After a two-year hiatus, some 80 people attended the 26th Annual Tree of Hope event at the Drumheller Health Centre on Sunday, December 4. This event gives the community an opportunity to provide greetings of hope to loved ones during the Christmas season, and to remember loved ones who have passed away. The ceremony, organized by Barb Neigum on behalf of the Drumheller Area Health Foundation (DAHF) and led by Reverend Dan Hendrickson, included music from the Pioneer Trail Singers and light refreshments. A total of $4,010 in donations were received during the 2022 Tree of Hope campaign for DAHF; funds are specifically designated to the Palliative Care fund.
