On June 23, at approximately 3:00 a.m., Drumheller RCMP received a complaint from company representatives of an oil site located near Highway 9 and Range Road 21-4 in Kneehill County advising that security systems indicated a break-and-enter was in progress.
RCMP members from Drumheller attended the area and encountered a vehicle near the site containing suspected stolen copper wire and 1 female suspect; the suspect was arrested. The investigation determined that 2 more suspects were outstanding and additional officers were dispatched to the scene. At 4:20 a.m., a second suspect was located in the area and arrested. The third suspect was located and arrested near 5:00 a.m. with assistance from RCMP Police Dog Services.
30-year-old Hailey Morrison of Drumheller, 38-year-old Brian Burrill of Drumheller, and 35-year-old Jessica Angel of Calgary were jointly charged with break and enter, mischief, theft of copper wire and possession of stolen property.
All three accused were subject to Judicial Interim Release Hearings. Morrison and Burrill were remanded into custody and are scheduled to appear in the Alberta Court of Justice in Hanna on June 26th, 2024 for a bail hearing. Angel was released from custody on a $500 Promise to Pay Release Order and is scheduled to appear in the Alberta Court of Justice in Drumheller on July 12th, 2024 to answer to the charges.
