Rotary supports Badlands Historical Museum

The Badlands Historical Museum is making a comeback and has been open this summer. The new board has been working hard on getting the museum in shape and continuing its operations. The Rotary Club of Drumheller has come through with a donation of $1,000 to help with operations and roof repairs. At the donation are (l-r) Badlands Historical Centre treasurer Lydia Nastiuk, Rotary secretary Linda Fisher, Rotary public relations Madison Colberg and Badlands Historical Centre chair Louise Henrickson.


Cricketeers take over Newcastle Recreation Area

Dozens of Alberta Cricket players descended on Newcastle Recreation Area on Sunday, August 27 for the second annual Drumheller Challenge Cup. This year there were four teams playing in the day-long tournament. This includes the Drumheller Valley Challengers, the YYC Raptors, the Calgary Yorkers Women’s team. The top two teams from pool play advanced to the final and the YYC Raptors defeated the Calgary Yorkers by 10 wickets. The Drumheller Cricket Association continues to grow, doubling the size of its annual event. They have also been training about seven youngsters, learning the sport. Drumheller RCMP arrest break and enter suspect

Drumheller RCMP have arrested a suspect in relation to a break and enter from a local oil company south of Rowley.
On Wednesday, August 23, Drumheller RCMP received a complaint from a local oil company reporting that earlier in the day suspects wearing masks broke into an oil site located south of Rowley.
It was found that items, including industrial products, tools, and a compressor were stolen. An investigation was initiated which included the collection and analysis of evidence and video surveillance which identified a suspect(s).
On Thursday, August 24 at approximately 7:10 p.m., Drumheller officers observed a suspect and the suspect vehicle in the Town of Drumheller.
Multiple officers, including from the Drumheller General Investigation Section, converged on the suspect vehicle and a 34 year old male from Linden was arrested.
Investigators found the suspect was bound by a Court Order with conditions, and officers located amounts of illicit drugs, including suspected methamphetamine.
Also located was an axe, a knife, suspected stolen property such as tools, and additional evidence.
The suspect was charged with possession of a controlled substance under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act, break and enter, theft under $5,000, and disobey court order.
RCMP continue to investigate this matter, and additional charges are pending.
The suspect's name is not being released at this time as information has not been sworn. The suspect was released from custody and is to appear in the Alberta Court of Justice in Drumheller on Friday, November 24 to answer to the charges.
