Discovery Channel documents whales' overland voyage

Palcoprep made delivery of the first whale skeleton they cleaned and assembled for a tourism pavilion in Newfoundland. Along the way the Discovery Channel joined them.
In June of this year, The Mail brought readers the story of the Palcoprep’s project to complete a series of whale skeletons for an interpretive project in Newfoundland.
The first specimen was a sperm whale and Palcoprep director Frank Hadfield delivered and assembled the model in Triton, Newfoundland last week.

Feds look for five more Alberta ridings

The federal government could add five more Alberta ridings through redistribution, upping the number of constituencies in Canada to 330 from the present 308.
This latest move was mentioned in last week's Throne Speech and, according to Crowfoot MP Kevin Sorenson, "could be a great improvement in representation in our province."
Mr. Sorenson told The Mail, "This legislation addresses the importance of the principle of representation by population and also recognizes the three provinces' population growth."
Two other provinces, B.C. and Ontario, are also named to gain seats through the redistribution plans.

Makowecki finally sees Morgan Jayne Project at work

fred.jpgAfter two years of building the Morgan Jayne Project, Fred Makowecki has finally made his way south to the Island of Roatan in Honduras to see the project in action.
The Morgan Jayne Project supplies infant formula to the children of mothers with HIV and AIDS in the Roatan to help stop the spread of the disease from mother to child through breast milk. The program, named after Makowecki’s daughter who died suddenly, has saved lives and caught the imagination of Drumheller residents.
