Jay Dekeyser working at Calgary Stampede for his 4th year

Pictured are Mark Sutherland, Drumhellerite Jay Dekeyser, and Kelly Sutherland as they are getting ready for tonight's (Saturday Night's) races.

Jay works in the barns and even sleeps in a bunk onsite on the East end of the Calgary Stampede grounds.

Mark and Kelly were both quick to say how very proud they were to have Jay in their barns. Jay helps by hauling feed, cleaning the barns, and caring for the horses.

In June of 2006 during the Grande Prairie race meet Mark had a potentially deadly crash. While the outcome was better than anyone watching could have expected, it still looked horrific. All horses and competitors were fine and the outcome allowed everyone involved, horse and cowboys, to race another day.

Here is a youtube clip of Mark's race that day.
