Drumheller RCMP execute search warrant, arrest and charge two

The Drumheller RCMP have arrested and charged two residents following a drug investigation.
In July of 2024, Drumheller RCMP General Investigation Section (GIS) officers initiated a drug trafficking investigation in and around the community of Drumheller.
On Thursday, December 12, at approximately 3:35 a.m., Drumheller GIS, along with General Duty members from Drumheller RCMP and Hanna RCMP, executed a search warrant at a residence located in the 700 block of 3 Avenue West in Drumheller. Two females and one male were arrested at the scene.
RCMP searched the residence and located quantities of fentanyl, cocaine, Canadian currency, and other drug trafficking evidence.
38-year-old Lindsay Hrenyk and 54-year-old Jeffery Burke, both residents of Drumheller, were jointly charged with possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking x 2; and possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000.
Burke was also found to be bound by a conditional sentence order (CSO) and subject to three breach allegations.
Burke and Hrenyk were remanded into custody and appeared in the Drumheller Alberta Court of Justice on Friday, December 13 to answer to their charges.
One female was released from custody with no charges. RCMP continue to investigate this matter and note that additional charges are pending.

Drumheller RCMP lay charges for impaired driving causing bodily harm

Drumheller RCMP charged a Starland man with impaired driving causing bodily harm following an incident where two men were injured in Delia.
At approximately 2:30 a.m. on October 19, 2024, Drumheller RCMP, Hanna RCMP, EMS, Delia Fire Department, and STARS Air Ambulance were dispatched to an injury incident in the Village of Delia.
Emergency crews arrived on scene at the 200 block of 2 Avenue West to find two adult males with head injuries. One was air lifted to a Calgary hospital and the other was transported by ground ambulance to a local hospital.
RCMP initiated an Impaired Operation of motor vehicle investigation and findings indicated the two injured males were riding in the open box of a pickup truck when they fell off, striking the pavement. The driver of the pickup was arrested at the time and provided breath samples that exceeded the legal limit.
On Monday, December 9, charges were approved by the Crown Prosecutor’s Office.
23-year-old Carter Reed, a resident of Starland County, was charged with two counts each of operating conveyance over 80 mg/% causing bodily harm, dangerous operation of a conveyance causing bodily harm and impaired operation of a conveyance causing bodily harm.
Reed appeared in Drumheller Alberta Court of Justice on Friday, December 13 to answer to the charges. Both injured males have since been released from hospital.

Drumheller RCMP charge two for drug trafficking following traffic stop

A traffic stop by Drumheller RCMP led to two residents facing drug charges.
On Dec. 11, 2024, at 10:22 p.m., officers conducted a traffic stop on a 2022 GMC Terrain rental vehicle at the Shell Gas Station, located at 680 2 Street SE in Drumheller. As a result of this traffic stop, a male and female were arrested.
Subsequent to the arrest, officers searched the vehicle and located quantities of fentanyl, methamphetamine, Canadian currency, and other drug trafficking evidence.
37-year-old Crystal Luider, a resident of Hanna, Alta., and 51-year-old Shane Pentelescu, a resident of Wheatland County, Alta., were jointly charged with possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking; and possession of property obtained by crime under $5000.
Pentelescu was also charged with failing to comply with a release order and failing to comply with a court order.
Luider was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in the Drumheller Court of Justice on Feb. 21, 2025. Pentelescu was remanded into custody and iappeared in the Drumheller Court of Justice on Dec. 13, 2024.
RCMP continue to investigate this matter.
RCMP is also issuing a warning to the public that the seized Fentanyl, in this case, was in the shape of a heart. This is very concerning, as it may make it more appealing to children who may think it is candy. Please speak to your children about this danger.
