Drumheller RCMP charged a Starland man with impaired driving causing bodily harm following an incident where two men were injured in Delia.
At approximately 2:30 a.m. on October 19, 2024, Drumheller RCMP, Hanna RCMP, EMS, Delia Fire Department, and STARS Air Ambulance were dispatched to an injury incident in the Village of Delia.
Emergency crews arrived on scene at the 200 block of 2 Avenue West to find two adult males with head injuries. One was air lifted to a Calgary hospital and the other was transported by ground ambulance to a local hospital.
RCMP initiated an Impaired Operation of motor vehicle investigation and findings indicated the two injured males were riding in the open box of a pickup truck when they fell off, striking the pavement. The driver of the pickup was arrested at the time and provided breath samples that exceeded the legal limit.
On Monday, December 9, charges were approved by the Crown Prosecutor’s Office.
23-year-old Carter Reed, a resident of Starland County, was charged with two counts each of operating conveyance over 80 mg/% causing bodily harm, dangerous operation of a conveyance causing bodily harm and impaired operation of a conveyance causing bodily harm.
Reed appeared in Drumheller Alberta Court of Justice on Friday, December 13 to answer to the charges. Both injured males have since been released from hospital.
