Drumheller firefighters quickly extinguished a structure fire early Monday morning, June 12, on Verdant Valley Road near Drumheller. The department responded at about 1 a.m. to the house fire on Highway 576, about a kilometre from Highway 9. The fire was on the roof of the home. The occupants were outside the home when the department arrived, and a cat was taken safely from the fire. It appears the fire was accidental in nature, possibly stemming from a fire pit.

A Linden man was arrested and is facing criminal and drug charges after police responded to a call where a vehicle was driven through a garage wall.
On Friday, June 9, at approximately 1:37 p.m., Three Hills RCMP received a call of an ongoing disturbance on a rural property where a SUV was driven through an attached garage.
Three Hills RCMP arrived on scene and observed a Jeep Grand Cherokee embedded into the attached garage of the residence. A male was located at the residence after trying to steal a Stieger farm tractor to evade police.
Three Hills RCMP executed a search warrant on the vehicle and located 10 grams of methamphetamine, two grams of cocaine and 52 grams of fentanyl along with items indicative of trafficking drugs were located and seized.
Jason Lock, 44, of Linden has been charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, failure or refusal to comply with demand, theft of a motor vehicle, two counts of possession for the purpose of Trafficking, possession of a controlled substance, drive while suspended or disqualified under the immediate roadside sanction, and drive uninsured motor vehicle on highway.
Following judicial hearing, Lock was released to appear at the Alberta Court of Justice in Drumheller on Friday, July 14.
“We are thankful no one was seriously injured during this event,” says Three Hills RCMP Detachment Commander Sergeant Jamie Day. “The quick response from Three Hills RCMP officers resulted in the arrest of the male and prevented further offences from occurring.”
If you have any information regarding criminal activity in your neighbourhood, including the trafficking of drugs, please contact the Three Hills RCMP at 403-443-5539 or your local detachment/police service.
