At least one Edmonton Oilers fan came away happy following the Oilers loss to Las Vegas Knights in their Stanley Cup series as the 50/50 draw was won by Oilers fan Patrick Schaffer, 62, of Calgary, who claimed the amount of $2,867,767.50. The other 50 per cent went to the Edmonton Oilers Community Fund. Mr. Schaffer is the son of former Drumhellerite Pat Schaffer, now living in Edmonton, and a nephew to Drumheller resident Bill Schaffer.
Mr. Schaffer claimed his winning check last week, and told the Mail, “I think Dad had a bigger smile than I did!”
Edmonton Oilers mascot “Hunter” presented the check.
