Kevin Sorenson, Member of Parliament for Battle River-
Crowfoot (formerly Crowfoot) announced his decision today not to run in the 2019 Federal Election.

“Six elections, nineteen great years, and various positions with the Official Opposition and
Government. Being a Member of Parliament has been the honour of my working life. All of it
is thanks to the tremendous support of the amazing constituents of Battle River-Crowfoot, the
many, many volunteers on all of my campaigns and the tireless dedication and sage advice of
you, my Board of Directors and Executive,” Kevin Sorenson told his supporters. “But, it is time
to go. It is time to spend more time with my family who have so selflessly and wholeheartedly
stood by my side throughout this long and demanding journey.”

First elected in 2000, Sorenson has served as minister of state for finance, chair of standing committe on public accounts, chair of the committe on the Canadian mission in Afghanistan, and vice-chair on the committee on Foreign Affairs and International Development, among other duties.

He endorsed Conservative Party Leader Andrew Scheer in a press release.

New Staff Sergeant arriving in May

RCMP CREST COLOUR

A new Staff Sergeant has been appointed to the Drumheller Detachment of the RCMP.
Ed Bourque will be starting his new post in the first week of May. He is coming from Red Water where he was serving as sergeant. He is familiar with Drumheller.
“I have been here a few times, camping and checking out all the cool sites, and the dinosaurs. My kids always loved those growing up, so I am looking forward to it,” Bourque tells the Mail.
    He was born in Alberta.
“I have been very fortunate to serve my whole career in the Alberta area,” he said.
While he is coming into a new community, he feels the focus will be on crime reduction and prevention.
“Across the board throughout the RCMP’s priorities, and through the town’s end as well, the priority is obviously going to be crime reduction, youth and schools,” he said. “Basically those are going to be the main focus and community policing generally is going to be at the forefront. Anybody who needs help of any kind or working with the public to try to decrease crime is really important.”
The position of Staff Sergeant at the Drumheller Detachment has been vacant since Kevin Charles took on the role of  District Advisory NCO in April of last year. He served at the Drumheller Detachment for nine years. Corporal Gerald Sherk has been acting as detachment commander.
