Voting day for the 2019 Provincial Election is Tuesday, April 16 and thousands in the Drumheller-Stettler Riding cast their ballot for one of six candidates running in the area. The province also saw an incredible number of residents cast their ballot at advance polls with an estimated 696,000 voting.

This year Elections Alberta introduced Vote Anywhere ballots at the advanced polls where residents could vote outside their electoral divisions. 563 Drumheller-Stettler residents took advantage of this opportunity. Albert Durbano, left, and Ed Duhn exit the Badlands Community Facility on voting day.

Library memberships now free

There’s no reason not to hit the books now, as the Drumheller Public Library will be giving free library memberships effectively immediately.

The offer comes after a trial of free library cards began in July 2017 to celebrate Canada 150. Library card registration increased and so did community involvement, the library says.

“Offering free library cards is an obvious decision -- a library card provides access to so much these days, and making sure those resources are available to everyone is a priority for the library board. We appreciate Town Council's financial support to make that a reality in Drumheller,” said board chair Vanessa Page.

In addition to free memberships, the library will now be open until 8 p.m. Monday to Friday.

The Drumheller library wishes to thank the Town of Drumheller for generous support of the program.
