There’s no reason not to hit the books now, as the Drumheller Public Library will be giving free library memberships effectively immediately.
The offer comes after a trial of free library cards began in July 2017 to celebrate Canada 150. Library card registration increased and so did community involvement, the library says.
“Offering free library cards is an obvious decision -- a library card provides access to so much these days, and making sure those resources are available to everyone is a priority for the library board. We appreciate Town Council's financial support to make that a reality in Drumheller,” said board chair Vanessa Page.
In addition to free memberships, the library will now be open until 8 p.m. Monday to Friday.
The Drumheller library wishes to thank the Town of Drumheller for generous support of the program.
