Fields of Honour Clean Up attracts 100

Field of Dreams 2019 75

The second annual Fields of Honour Clean Up Day attracted about 100 volunteers all committed to giving their time to show respect for veterans.
Eric Dahl organized the event on Sunday, June 2. He has taken on the project to clean and restore veterans’ graves at the Drumheller cemetery. This year he had more help than he could imagine.
“We had about 100, which is about twice as many as last year. Most of the people came from out of town. There were veteran motorcycle clubs that came from Lethbridge, Red Deer, Calgary, and Edmonton,” said Dahl.
The day started with lunch, much of it donated by local residents and businesses, and then they took on cleaning the gravesites.
The guest of honour was Afghanistan veteran Kirk Powell, he is the recipient of the Afghanistan Campaign Star, and Afghanistan Sacrifice Medal.
“I am very happy with the outcome,” said Dahl, adding he is grateful for all the community support.
