The Community Business Association (CBA) is finding its stride, becoming involved in many efforts to make Drumheller a great place to live and do business in.
    The committee formed about a year ago. While its founding focus came from wanting to encourage business in downtown, it is inclusive of all businesses throughout the valley.
    Chair Mike Fabrick says it has a strong core of business owners from throughout the valley, with many from downtown.
    “We wanted to make people aware there are things to see and do in the downtown core,” he said. “We are still working hard on this, but we don’t want to be exclusive, we want to include all of the businesses of the valley and outlying areas also to be part of what is going on.”
    He says the CBA has been doing a lot of fact finding, inviting many different presenters to their meetings, they are working closely with the Town and the Chamber of Commerce.
    “We have been invited to sit on many different boards to have a voice in the valley,” said Fabrick.
    This includes the Downtown Revitalization Committee, the Roger Brooks group, they sit in with the Chamber and have members on the Branding Committee for the valley.
    They also try to promote local events throughout the valley, including the Christmas shopping promotion held last year called the  Super Santa Saturday initiative.
    He adds they are working on building a communication network, hoping to compile an email list with as many businesses as possible to keep them apprised with what is happening in the valley.
    He says the group is bringing a positive attitude and a willingness to work together.
    “A big thing is to make Drumheller into more of a destination,  let people know there are things to do and see when they do come to town,” he said.
    While the draw may be to the large attractions, they want to demonstrate there are many more things to do. By making people working in the valley knowledgeable about what is offered, they can act as ambassadors, sharing information with visitors.
    “We are working together as a whole to enhance the whole shopping experience and visit,” he said.
