The Santa Claus Parade, organized by the Downtown Drumheller Committee, is returning after being absent from the snowy streets of town last year.
Sadly, concerns from insurance providers prevented the parade from commencing during the previous holiday season. Thankfully, those concerns have been cleared up and residents will be treated to an afternoon of holiday festivities.
“It’s a way to get people into the spirit of Christmas,” said Roxanne Clark of the Drumheller and District Chamber of Commerce. “We encourage people to come downtown to enjoy the festivities.”
The parade starts Saturday, December 3 at 1:00 p.m. Afterwards there will be hot dogs and hot chocolate provided by the Drumheller Legion. The money collected will go to the Salvation Army.
A Christmas movie will play at the Napier Theatre after. Rather than the standard admission fee, residents will be able to enjoy the featured film by donating an item for the food bank.
Any organization or business wishing to participate in the parade can find further information and register online at www.drumhellerchamber.com, or can phone Roxanne Clark at the Chamber of Commerce at 403-823-8100. There is no fee to register.
The only stipulation for floats is to not have Santa Claus on them. He will be making a special appearance later on.
