Construction site crash

truck

On Sept 21, 2015 at 10:42 PM Drumheller RCMP received a call about a truck that was speeding and became involved in an accident at a construction site along Railway Avenue East. When members arrived they found the truck without any occupants inside.  The truck had been traveling westbound on a service road between Railway Avenue East and where the railroad tracks used to be (the area where railroad ties are being collected).   The truck hit a dirt hill, then a generator and came to a stop against construction machinery. RCMP interviewed witnesses and were able to identify the driver, who turned himself into the RCMP a short time later, and a passenger.  There were no injuries as a result of the accident. A 19 year old male has been charged under the Traffic Safety Act for failing to remain at the scene of an accident and is set to appear in court on November 13, 2015 at 10:00 AM in Drumheller.

Aquaplex Annual Maintenance to be Extended until October 6

Aquaplex shutdown

The indoor pool will be closed for an additional 10-14 days in order to drain and clean the basin due to a mechanical issue that has affected pool water quality. The anticipated re-opening date is expected on Tuesday, October 6, 2015.
As a result of the extended closure of the indoor pool, the outdoor pool will continue to be open to the public weather permitting. The Drumheller Aquaplex schedules pool closures in September in order to maintain service to the public and community user groups while the outdoor pool remains in service.
Aquaplex users preferring to access the Badlands Community Facility’s programs are encouraged to visit the Badlands Community Facility under an existing Aquaplex membership.
Aquaplex staff would like to thank the public for their understanding and cooperation as we work diligently to resolve this issue. Andrea Leavitt, Supervisor, Aquatics at the Aquaplex says “We will continue to do everything possible to ensure that the indoor pool is up and running as soon as we can
