The St. Anthony’s Sabres girl’s soccer team is back on the field for another season.
This year they have a new squad with a mix of youth and experience.
“We’re just really young this year, We have a few Grade 7 players,” said coach Gavin Makse. “We are improving every time we play.”
He adds there are spots available for more athletes to join.
The team is hosting their own tournament on September 25. They are expecting Strathmore, Notre Dame from High River and Olds to be participating.
He is confident that even though they are young, they can be competitive.
“We are actually optimistic that we can set our sights on winning our home tournament,” said coach Makse.
Leading up to their tournament, they have been arranging exhibition games with other teams, including a match with an adult rec soccer squad.
Following the home tournament, they will be on their way to zones.
