Drumheller Town Council Special Meeting

Drumheller Mayor Heather Colberg opened the meeting.

Council held a Special Meeting and gave third reading of the Tax Rate Bylaw 14.24. The Tax Rate bylaw reflects a 4 per cent increase in the budget (See story on page 2).

Drumheller Committee of the Whole Meeting

Council accepted as information the Drumheller and District Seniors Foundation Regular Meeting minutes from Thursday, March 28, as presented.

Council received a presentation from RCMP Staff Sergeant Robert Harms about their quarterly report. Indicators are reflecting trend of crime decreasing. He noted tis coming year’s priorities include crime reduction, community engagement, substance abuse and traffic safety.

The Dino Arts Association presented to the council on the work it does to maintain and preserve the dinosaur statues throughout the town, as well as add and improve the collection. They hinted at a new dinosaur this coming year.

Midlandvale Community Hall Association regarding the new outdoor rink currently under development. The association has been raising funds for the project, including a CFEP grant for over $650,000. Work has commenced on the site.

Council was briefed by Drumheller Fire Chief Derian Rosario about the Fire Chiefs Association Day at the legislature. 25 fire chiefs from across Alberta sat with Alberta Ministers to discuss issues such as pensions and tax credits for firefighters.

Council moved into a closed session before adjourning the meeting.
