Facebook libel case adjourned to May 13

A Drumheller woman charged with defamatory libel will be returning to provincial court in Drumheller on May 13.
Karen MacKinnon, former Drumheller town councillor, was scheduled to appear in provincial court in Drumheller on Wednesday, April 6.  An agent appeared on behalf of MacKinnon and her council. Her case was put over until May 13.

Police say the charges arise from a two-month investigation which include writings on Facebook that are alleged to be defamatory. RCMP say this the first time the detachment has dealt with a case involving the popular social networking site.
MacKinnon was acclaimed as a Drumheller town councillor in 2004 for the west ward. She ran again in 2007, but was defeated.
