A number of awards were presented at the annual Firefighters Awards night last Saturday, February 26.
The Drumheller Fire Department had a busy 2010 to reflect upon. The department, which includes the Drumheller Hall as well as halls in East Coulee and Rosedale, responded to 121 calls. These included 12 structure fires, eight hazardous materials calls, 23 motor vehicle collisions (five of which resulted in fatalities) and 10 grass fires.
Throughout these calls, there were no injuries to any of the firefighters.
This year the department has also been busy planning the 2011 Southern Alberta Regional Scott FireFit Challenge. This event will include both the individual and team events, as well as a corporate challenge and the Top Cop Competition. It is coming up this June 11 and 12.
