Jager smashes fundraising goal at dinner and auction

_jager.jpgHeather Jager has smashed her fundraising goal, after receiving more than $19,000 by letting supporters have an “Adventure in their own Backyard” last Saturday night.
Jager of the Delia area, is participating in the Sears National Kids Cancer Ride, and this summer will be part of a team riding from Vancouver to Halifax. Initially she set out to raise $25,000. The $19,000 she raised at the dinner and silent and live auction on Saturday April 25 at the Hanna Community Centre, put her over the top. “On behalf of the Coast to Coast Against Cancer Foundation, my fellow National Riders on the Sears National Kids Cancer Ride, and all of the children and families who will be positively impacted by these funds, thank you Hanna, and surrounding communities for your tremendous support of our efforts to fund raise for Canadian children’s cancer charities,” said Jager on her blog following the event. Jager told The Mail they fed 182 people at the event, and even more came after dinner to participate in the silent and live auction. Local talent Dalyn Stevenson provided the entertainment, Skip MacArthur called the auction, and the rest of the evening went off without a hitch. Some of the prizes included Via Rail passes, rock climbing and laser tag passes. Jager is very appreciative that she has met her goal, the support she has received, however it won’t stop her from continuing with fundraising efforts. “You can’t cure cancer on $25,000,” she said. On June 6 she will he holding a White Elephant auction sale in Delia to support her ride. The ride leaves Vancouver on June 13.
