A prayer service for Mike will be held at 6:00 p.m., Friday, February 2, 2024 at Stevenson Funeral Home.
Mike passed away peacefully on January 19, 2024 after a multi-year battle with brain cancer.
Michael Gene Kostelecky was born March 13, 1962 in Dickinson, ND to Jerry and Lillian (Kostelecky) Kostelecky. Mike graduated from Trinity High School and then furthered his education at Pacific University in Forest Grove, Oregon where he graduated in 1987 with a Doctorate of Optometry. Mike eventually settled in Drumheller, AB Canada where he established roots and opened his own Optometry practice where he worked for 30 years. It is there where he also raised his four children, Cameron, Rachael, Chase and Kira and his stepson Alex.
Mike enjoyed watching NFL and NHL games, especially his beloved Green Bay Packers and Calgary Flames. Mike loved to travel to Green Bay and bring as many people as possible with him to experience one of his favorite things in life, Packers games and the atmosphere in Titletown. He had a passion for making sure people were always having fun. He also loved being outside fishing, pheasant hunting and golfing, but what truly made him happy was spending time with his family and friends.
Mike is survived by his children, Cameron (Kaitlyn) Kostelecky of Dickinson, ND, Rachael (Kitz) Kostelecky of Denver, CO, Chase (Deanna) Kostelecky of Kamloops, BC Canada, Kira Kostelecky of Calgary, AB, Canada; grandchildren, Easton and Kolten Kostelecky; siblings, JeriAnn (Ron) Blaufuss of Valley City, ND; Neil (Pam) Kostelecky of Bismarck, ND, Gregg (Paula) Kostelecky of Arvada, CO, and Mark (Dana) Kostelecky of Dickinson, ND.
He is preceded in death by his parents Jerry and Lillian Kostelecky.
In lieu of flowers, we ask that donations be made to the National Brain Tumor Society in Mike’s memory. His memorial donation page can be found at: https://nbtsevents.braintumor.org/fundraiser/5200930
