Rockyford council considers creating new noise bylaw

Village of Rockyford council members are considering the possibility of implementing a noise bylaw within the village’s municipal boundaries following complaints over the last several months.
The item was presented to council during the regular Wednesday, November 8 council meeting, and council directed administration to invite Wheatland County bylaw enforcement and members of the RCMP to its next meeting.
“There have been a number of complaints brought forward over the last few months, and without a bylaw they cannot be addressed,” shares Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) Lori Miller.
One concern council had regarding the potential bylaw was enforcement.
The Village uses Wheatland County bylaw services to enforce its municipal bylaws; however, enforcement is limited to weekdays as officers do not work evenings or weekends, which could potentially pose limitations.
Ms. Miller says once RCMP and bylaw have had the opportunity to speak with council regarding any potential enforcement issues, a draft of the proposed bylaw will be brought back to council for further discussion.
