Power outage leads to elevator rescue

The Drumheller Fire Department responded to an elevator rescue in downtown Drumheller caused by a widespread unplanned power outage in Drumheller on Tuesday morning, November 14.
The Town of Drumheller experienced a power outage on Tuesday morning, affecting the downtown core. Residents also reported outages in parts of Riverside, North Drumheller and Midland. According to the ATCO outage website, the issues affected over 1,100 customers.
Shortly before 11 a.m., the Drumheller Fire Department was called to Keystone Tower on 3rd Avenue in downtown Drumheller. An elderly woman was trapped in the elevator when the power went out.
Fire Chief Derian Rosario tells the Mail, that the elevator was stopped slightly between floors. The department was able to open the door and give her a handout. There were no medical issues.
Power was restored at approximately 12:30 p.m.
