An 18 year old motorcyclist who was a resident of Drumheller was killed in a reported single-vehicle collision in Kananaskis Country on Sunday, October 8.
The accident took place approximately 70 kilometres south of Highway 1 on Highway 40, near Highwood Peak at approximately 1:30 p.m.
RCMP media relations officer Corporal Gina Slaney tells the Mail witnesses reported seeing the motorcycle begin to wobble on a straight stretch of highway. Speed is not believed to be a factor, and the motorcyclist was reported to have been wearing his helmet at the time of the accident.
According to a report from the Rocky Mountain Outlook, RCMP and Kananaskis Emergency Services responded to the accident. STARS air ambulance was initially dispatched but later stood down.
The name of the deceased has not been released by RCMP.
