Drumheller RCMP lay charges in drug investigation

Drumheller RCMP entered into an investigation involving drug trafficking and weapons offences on Friday, September 16 after it was alleged a male was assaulted and threatened with a firearm at a residence in the north end of Drumheller.
On Saturday, September 17, Drumheller RCMP with the assistance of the Calgary Police Emergency Response Team and Calgary Police Dog Services executed a search warrant at this residence.
As a result of the search, police located fentanyl, methamphetamine, as well as several other items that were confirmed to be stolen.
Lloyd Smith, 56, a resident of Drumheller has been charged with possession of fentanyl for the purpose of trafficking, possession of methamphetamine, and four counts of possession of property obtained by crime.
Smith was released from custody and will appear in provincial court in Drumheller on Friday, November 25.
Shane Pentelescu, 37, also a resident of Drumheller, has been charged with pointing a firearm, uttering threats, and assault.
Pentelescu was released from custody following a judicial interim release hearing and is scheduled to appear in provincial court in Drumheller on Friday, October 21.
