Over $25,000 in grant funding to build and install a grain bin gazebo at the Village of Hussar campground was announced during the regular Thursday, June 30 council meeting, and a delegation was held during the July 20 council meeting to discuss benches which will also be part of the installation.
The funding also includes costs to install electrical and complete landscaping work, and an estimated $3,500 in labour expenses, which are being volunteered in-kind.
“The gazebo should be great once it’s completed, I foresee lots of weddings and events taking place in it,” Hussar Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) Kate Brandt told the Mail.
A total of $2,000 has been budgeted from the grant funding for the benches, and it is estimated this will allow about three or four benches to be installed. Further discussions regarding the design and colours of the benches will be brought forward at a later council meeting in September.
As the labour to install the gazebo is being volunteered, CAO Brandt notes the current timeline is “after harvest.”
Funds for the project must be used by March 31, 2023.
