Drumheller RCMP seek new detachment commander

DSC 0215

After three years of serving as detachment commander for the Drumheller RCMP, Staff Sergeant Ed Bourque has accepted a transfer to Edmonton.
While the transfer will bring S/Sgt Bourque closer to home in Morrinville, he says leaving the community and the detachment will be bittersweet, and he spent his final day at the local detachment on Wednesday, June 8 bidding farewell to the community and his fellow officers.
“I’ve made the drive (from Drumheller to Morrinville) so many times these last three years, but I’ll really take it in this last time,” he tells the Mail.
S/Sgt Bourque transferred to Drumheller from Redwater, some 310 kilometres north, in May 2019 and has served at numerous posts across Alberta, including Redwater and Lac la Biche, throughout his career with the RCMP.
S/Sgt Bourque hopes the Town and RCMP detachment can work together to fill the role with someone who will continue current initiatives within the community and who shares similar goals for the community, though this process could take some months.
Corporal Alexander MacDonald will fill the role of acting Sergeant until a replacement detachment commander is hired.
