Drumheller and Starland Rural Mental Health Network are hosting a hybrid event, with both in-person and virtual attendance available, to promote and support rural mental health and addictions recovery on Monday, March 14.
Joseph Roberts, known as the Skidrow CEO, will speak about his journey from overcoming homelessness and addiction on the streets of Vancouver, B.C. to becoming a successful multimedia CEO and advocate for mental health and addictions recovery; local community support agencies, including Town of Drumheller Community and Social Planning services and Drumheller Associated Physicians, will also provide virtual presentations on the local supports available.
“Removing the stigma around mental health and addictions and bringing people together is kind of the goal of this event,” says Drumheller and Starland Rural Mental Health Network committee member Samantha Haddon.
Guests will also have the opportunity to speak one-on-one with Mr. Roberts and Martin McSween with Alberta Health Services (AHS) Addictions and Mental Health Counselling at a follow-up session on March 21.
