Courthouse1

An inmate, who was serving at the Drumheller Institution last year pleaded guilty to assault with a weapon.
Aaron Moore, appeared in provincial court in Drumheller via closed-circuit television from Edmonton Maximum Security Institution, where he was transferred following his charges, to enter a guilty plea.
The court heard that on August 25, 2021, there was a disturbance at the institution at 8:45 a.m. Several inmates were participating in a large fight.
During this, an inmate was stabbed with a jail-made shiv. Moore was identified, and the assault was captured by surveillance footage. The victim was not seriously injured.
Moore has a record going back to 2010 and used his appearance in court to talk about the conditions in the Edmonton Maximum Security Institution.
The crown and defense agreed to a joint submission of a 3-month consecutive sentence.
