Starland begins CLV waterline replacement

Starland County is busy on a water infrastructure project in the Verdant Valley area.
Residents have noted work being done on the hill north of Drumheller. Reeve Steve Wannstrom tells the Mail, this is a waterline replacement project.
“We get a number of breaks every year, so we put out a contract to replace that,” said Wannstrom.
CLV is named after the former school divisions Creighton, Livingston, and Verdant Valley. The original system was built in 1989 and was a farm-based system that serves the eastern portion of the county. Starland County took over the operation in 2007.
It supplies household water to some rural residents in Starland County and includes a truck fill station along the line. It also passes by Raptor Ridge and is where the development will tie in.
At the November 25, 2020 meeting, Starland Council received notice Starland was approved for a grant under the Municipal Stimulus Program for $245,584 for the waterline replacement.
At the July 21, 2021, meeting, Starland County awarded the tender for the CLV Waterline replacement to Elite Site Services for $169,827.
Wannstrom explained their water pumps for the line are underground, and the county bought a property beside the Emcon transportation yard to install a new pumping infrastructure above ground.
