New park dedicated to former Village of Carbon mayor

BuyerParkDedication

A new playground in the Village of Carbon at the Diamond Valley subdivision, on the eastern boundary of the village, was dedicated in memory to lifelong Carbon resident, Shirley Buyer, on Saturday, August 14 following her celebration of life.

Buyer was heavily involved within the community, having worked as office secretary at the Carbon School for nearly three decades, serving on the village council as both councillor and mayor for 18 years.
Her love of music, having taught music and playing piano and organ for Carbon Community Church, was the inspiration behind the design for Buyer Park, and Shirley’s grandchildren had the opportunity to play on the new playground following the dedication ceremony.
