The Alberta Aerobatics Club made a stop at the Drumheller Municipal Airport on Saturday, July 24 to practice some high-flying stunts in the smoky sky. Some seven planes and their pilots were in attendance, giving spectators an opportunity to get up close and personal with the aircraft and speak with the pilots. The practice was temporarily cancelled due to an unforeseen conflict with Transport Canada regulations; with spectators in attendance, the practice was classified as an event and required special permissions. Airport Manager Patrick Bonneville says despite the temporary cancellation, pilots were able to take off and complete some practice stunts in the afternoon once spectators dispersed.
