Soccer team plays first game in over two years

The Drumheller Soccer team survived through COVID-19 restrictions and was able to have a game before the season ended.
On Monday, June 28 the team, made up of U10 players, with a couple of U12 on the squad, squared off against Hanna in a match. Hanna was victorious on this day, but it was a success to let the kids play.
“Our kids have not played a game in over two years and I thought we did awesome,” said coach Gavin Makse. “I was really proud of them, we just got better as the game went on and they weren’t scared because they were bigger. The thing that I was most impressed with is we had really good control of the ball. Passing, keeping moving on the ground.”
This looks like the only opportunity they will get to play this season, however, the Drumheller Minor Soccer Association is looking at planning some activities over the summer to keep the players on the field.
