Inmate sentenced for assault

Drumheller Institution

An inmate at the Drumheller Institution has been sentenced to eight more months in jail after pleading guilty to assault.
Tristian Blaszczyk appeared in provincial court in Drumheller on Friday, June 18, where he pleaded guilty.
Blaszczyk was a serving inmate on January 17, 2021, when he assaulted another inmate with a ceramic coffee cup in a sock. He struck the other inmate while he was sitting while taking a phone call. A correction officer then intervened.
The judge agreed with a joint submission of eight months consecutive to his current sentence of 44 months for charges that includes break and enter, theft and assault.
