Drumheller RCMP are asking the public for information regarding an attempted armed robbery in Rosedale last week.
On Aug.13, at approximately noon, Drumheller RCMP were made aware of an attempted armed robbery at the Rosedale Canada Post Office through a social media post.
Drumheller RCMP immediately launched an investigation upon being informed of the incident and located the victim, an employee who was physically unharmed. The victim was offered supports following police attendance. The investigation revealed a significant delay of three hours before the robbery was reported to police by unconventional means.
On Aug. 13 at approximately 9 a.m., a lone male entered the Rosedale Canada Post office brandishing what appeared to be a black foot long firearm. The suspect demanded money from the employee who was able to close the wicket and flee to the rear of the post office. The suspect then fled on foot. The victim remained sheltered in place for a period of time and then continued to work before being located by police.
The suspect is described as:
· Male, in his 20’s
· Long greasy blonde hair
· Goatee
· Wearing a plaid shirt and jeans
