Dragons Captain NCAA bound

Derrick Budz

Another Drumheller Dragon is headed to the United States to play Division III NCAA hockey.
The Dragons announced that 21-year-old forward Derrick Budz has committed to the Aurora University Spartans (NCAA) in Aurora, IL for the fall of 2020.
Budz captained the club this past season and spent three years with the Drumheller Dragons program. Originally from Yorkton, Saskatchewan, he was a fan favourite on and off the ice and was a tremendous leader to his teammates.
Derrick played in 160 games with the Dragons and registered 44 goals and 48 assists for 92 points. He was always a top playoff performer putting up 16 points in 20 AJHL post-season games. Budz will be remembered by Dragons fans for his infectious smile, community involvement, and work ethic.
The Spartans play in the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association in the NCAA Div.III program. Budz will wear #91 for the Spartans when he takes to the ice this fall.
