The Town of Drumheller has temporarily laid off 25 casual and seasonal employees as part of the organization’s response to COVID-19. Like many local businesses and other municipalities, COVID-19 has had a significant impact on Town operations and programs. Due to mandatory facility and program closures, the lay-offs were announced today to employees. CAO Darryl Drohomerski explains, “this decision was not made lightly, but like many of our local businesses are struggling with effects from COVID-19, so are we. We need to be mindful of the impacts on our citizens." “I want to thank everyone for their careful, compassionate and caring response to protect our community from COVID-19. Their dedication to be redeployed to help clean our community is appreciated and we hope they will return soon, once we re-open our facilities and re-start programs,” stated Mayor Colberg. The Town is committed to providing essential services to the community. However, some operational levels of service may be adjusted while staff remain focused on the response to this global pandemic.
