Drumheller celebrated Family Literacy Day on Saturday, January 25 with its Silver and Gold Carnival. The event, in the traditions of an old time penny carnival saw many Drumheller families participate in 18 events, as well as face painting, snacks and fun. They were supported by volunteers from the local schools and the Drumheller Dragons even came out to lend support. Irelyn Hodgson, 7, tried her hand at one of the bowling events. Funds raised at the carnival will support future Family Fun activities and Family Literacy events.
Boston Pizza showed its support for Family Literacy at the Family Literacy Day Silver and Gold Carnival. Heather Jones, right, presented a donation of $403 from fundraising in 2019. Jones also surprised the group with $500 from the sale of hearts, to the Drumheller Family Literacy Committee for its activities.
