Another Dragon has committed to continuing his career at the NCAA Divison 1 level.
On December 9, the Drumheller Dragons announced that 19-year-old forward Eric Martin has committed to Bemidji State University in Minnesota.
The Bemidji State Beavers play in the Western Collegiate Hockey Association and are currently sitting second overall in their conference with an 8-3-2 record.
Martin enters the 2019-20 season as his second with the Drumheller Dragons. The 5’11” forward from Calgary currently leads the Dragons in points with 39 points in 31 games played.
“Eric brings a lot of enthusiasm and energy in the way he competes,” says Coach Kevin Hasselberg. “Eric can take on many roles as a 200-foot player in the game. His creativity and patience combined with his tenacity and determination will make him a tremendous college player who can step right into a line-up and play.”
In two seasons, Eric has played in a total of 98 career AJHL games and has contributed 70 points. Before joining the Dragons, Eric spent two seasons in the Alberta Midget Hockey League with the Calgary Flames where he was also a key offensive contributor and leader.
“Eric is a glue player that keeps the room engaged whom teammates respect and enjoy being around. His positive attitude is infectious, and his contributions are numerous,” said Hasselberg.
The Drumheller Dragons would like to thank the entire coaching staff of the Bemidji State Beavers for all their recruiting efforts and invested time following and expressing interest in Eric.
