The Bantam Titans left it all out on the field as they wrapped up their season on Saturday, November 2.
The Bantams faced the Lacombe Raiders for the Tier 1 bronze medal in the Central Alberta Football League. This was the first time the Titans had made it to the tier 1 playoffs, which was a feat in itself.
The Titans played well but could not make up the gap as Lacombe went on to a 22-14 win. It was close however on a final drive by the Titans, but a turnover decided their fate.
“Losing that game still puts us in fourth place in the league,” said coach Thomas Laffin. “That is still a big accomplishment.”
The result bodes well for the program. This year the Bantams has one of the fullest benches in Drumheller Community Football, with many young players coming up. They will be losing 13 players who are moving on to the next level.
‘We will have 13 spots to fill out of the 34 we had, so that gives us a really good returning base,” said Laffin. “We had a lot of first-year players playing very crucial roles. We are looking for them to step up next year and a lot of them are looking forward to it.”
“I couldn’t be more proud of the season they played. They put it all out there. It has been an emotional last few games, but this was a great team to have and we couldn’t be prouder.”
