On Saturday, June 1, 17 students at St. Anthony’s School crossed the stage into their future at their graduation ceremonies.
Friends, family, and well-wishers filled the St. Anthony’s gymnasium to witness the convocation. The school’s Choir and the Junior and Senior High Bands provided music to the memorable event.
Principal Mrs. JoAnne Akerboom provided the invocation. The Honourable Kevin Sorenson MP, Battle River-Crowfoot, Nate Horner MLA for Drumheller-Stettler, Councillor Jay Garbutt, representing the Town of Drumheller, and Mr. Vincent Behm, Associate Superintendent, Christ the Redeemer School Division, brought greetings.
Salutatorian Matthew Doyle delivered a message of thanks to the Teachers and Parents.
The students were presented their Diplomas as well as mementos from the distinguished guests.
Donovan Snider was named the Valedictorian.
Academic Scholarships
Science Scholarship, sponsored by the Royal Tyrrell Museum is awarded to the recipient with the highest two science marks. It was presented to Donovan Snider by Patty Ralrick.
The Math 30-1 Scholarship, sponsored by ATB was presented to Andrew Germain by Chris Sadler.
The Math 30-1 Scholarship, sponsored by For Sight Vision was presented to Donovan Snider by Anton Siaotong.
The Social 30 Scholarship, sponsored by St. Anthony’s School was presented to Donovan Snider by Kurt Phillips.
The English 30 Scholarship, sponsored by Kool Kutz was presented to Donovan Snider by Tracy Gendron.
The Religion 35 Award, sponsored by St. Anthony’s Roman Catholic Church was presented to Donovan Snider by Anton Siaotong.
The Chemistry 30 Scholarship, sponsored by Drumheller Lion’s Club was presented to Donovan Snider by Michelle Fournier.
The Biology 30 Scholarship, sponsored by Drumheller Associated Physicians was presented to Donovan Snider by Dr. L Smith.

The Art Drama Award, sponsored by St. Anthony’s School was presented to Ravtej Singh by Michelle Fournier.
The Performing Arts in Band/Choir Award, sponsored by Ms. Laurie Lotts was presented to Donovan Snider by Laurie Lotts.
Community Scholarships and Award The Drumheller and District Chambers of Commerce Business Leadership Award, Sponsored by Drumheller Chamber of Commerce is presented to a student enrolled in a post-secondary institution in the business field. It was presented to Andrew Germain by Jay Mulgrew.
The Follow Your Dream Scholarship, sponsored by Centre Street Insurance is presented to a student enrolled in a recognized post-secondary institution based on academic excellence and financial need. It was presented to Andrew Germain by Tania Johnson.
The Community Services Award is sponsored by Western GM Drumheller The recipient is enrolled at a recognized post-secondary institution and demonstrated commitment to community service. It was presented Ravtej Singh by Doug Lubinski.
The Youth Leadership Award, sponsored by Freson Bros. is based on academics, athletics, spiritual and community involvement. Enrolled in a post-secondary institution. It was presented to Iverson de Guzman by Pat Doyle.
The Value Drug Mart Scholarship is given to the students who demonstrates leadership at the school. It was presented to Donovan Snider by Ray and Deanna Ainscough.
The Most Improved Scholarship, sponsored by the Westview CO-OP is presented to the student who has shown improvement throughout the year and is enrolled in a post-secondary institution or can defer up to 5 years. It was presented to Ravtej Singh by Celeste Schrock.
The School Involvement Award, sponsored by Hi-Way 9 Express Ltd. The Recipient has actively participated in extra-curricular activities and clubs at the school. It was presented to Thane Durant by Shannon Wade.
The Home Town Realty Peter Van Der Heyden Memorial Scholarship is sponsored by Home Town Realty. The recipient must demonstrate compassion, citizenship, and volunteerism in school and community, and could be enrolled in a post-secondary institution. It was presented to Matthew Doyle by Arlene Van der Heyden.
The Rotary High Academic Achievement Award is sponsored by the Drumheller Rotary Club. The recipient has leadership qualities and is recognized as an individual of honesty and integrity. It was presented to Donovan Snider by Tania Johnson.
The Christian Fellowship Award is sponsored by the Catholic Women’s League and the Knights of Columbus. The recipient has a willingness to participate in religious activities in school and church, has attained exceptional grades in religion class and who displays Christian Fellowship to all. It was presented to Iverson de Guzman by Anton Siaotong and Maria McIver.
The St. Anthony’s School Council Award is presented to the student who has attended most of their school years at St. Anthony’s and lives our school motto “Making the World a Better place to be.” It was presented to Andrew Germain by Pat Doyle.
The Maria” Ami” Kuschke Memorial Scholarship is presented to the student that has shown passion for the fine arts and will continue with this passion for themselves or to share their talents with others. It was presented to Thane Durant by Dr. L Smith.
McDonald’s Youth Leadership Award, sponsored McDonald’s, is presented to the student that has shown strong leadership and initiative at work. It was presented to Katie McTaggart by Summer Manca.
The Discovery Award, sponsored by Interpipeline is presented to the student who is pursuing a post-secondary career in an industry-related field. It was presented to Andrew Germain by Jay Mulgrew.
The Jarrett Bosch Memorial Scholarship is sponsored by the Bosch Family and is presented to the student attending a post-secondary school that emulates Jarrett’s life and is nominated by their peers. It was presented to Donovan Snider by Rick and Janice Bosch.
Theresa Hamilton Memorial Scholarship is sponsored by Heather Guterson. The recipient must demonstrate qualities in their life that emulated qualities in Theresa’s life including Academic achievement, volunteering time assisting those in need, respect for all. Financial need is also a criteria. It was presented to Matthew Doyle by Chris Bzdel.
The Drumheller Family Scholarship, sponsored by the Drumheller Family and Museum is presented to the student attending post-secondary school, academic excellence, leadership, caring and helpful, personal integrity and values and, went through an interview process. The Excellence in Education Award, sponsored by the Drumheller Mail Ltd. is presented to the graduating class Valedictorian in recognition of the student who strove for excellence in education. It was presented to Donovan Snider by Patrick Kolafa.
The Governor General’s Award is presented to the student with the highest average of all marks in grades II and 12. It was presented to Donovan Snider by Hon. Kevin Sorenson.
