Youth Centre fundraising underway

Efforts to fund a space for activities for youth in Drumheller have begun.

Preliminarily called the Badlands Youth Centre, the project would provide youth with a safe, centralized space to participate in beneficial and affordable activities, Family and Community Support Services says.

“Our needs assessment in 2017 told us Drumheller and area needed a space offering activities for our youth outside of school,” services coordinator Laura Dougan said.

The centre will offer unstructured leisure activities, educational programs, leadership training, hot meals, and more.

Family and Community Support Services has said grant money and redirected FCSS funds will help reach the $100,000 goal for initial setup, but the organization is looking for sponsors and have put together a sponsorship package, available on the FCSS website, town hall, or by calling 403-823-1315.
